Yaokasin family to donate 2 classroom public elementary school building

TACLOBAN CITY – A member of the city council here will donate one-unit two classroom school building to a public elementary school here in the city.

“The fund will come from my family’s personal money and will not be sourced out from the city account,” said Councilor Jerry Yaokasin.

Yaokasin added that they chose to provide donation to elementary schools as he believes that molding better students and citizens’ start in the primary age of learning.

“I hope that with this donation, this will serves as our contribution to make the children of this city well educated,” Yaokasin added.

Yaokasin was a former chair of the committee of education at the city council during his first and second term, where he made several achievements and was recognized by the education department in his effort to help their sector.

The donation will be a tribute to his father, Jimmy, who had just passed away last year said Yaokasin.

The councilor, however, declined to identify the school which will benefit their family’s donation.

Aside from donating a school building, Yaokasin revealed that his family is also set to donate a library in one of the public schools in the city where the materials will be coming from Singapore Children’s Book.

He added that a laptop computer is also to be donated to another public school in the city.

For this year, Yaokasin promised to the Taclobanons that he will continue to focus on the garbage and drainage problem of the city and will make sure that the city government will implement projects that are priorities and needed by the residents of Tacloban.“We will continue to campaign that the city government will “do more with less, implement a project that are only needed by the people,” said Yaokasin.

What he means by “do more with less,” according to Yaokasin, is more projects with less expense.

He added that he will also make sure that the city government will maximize its resources by funding infrastructure projects that are only needed in the city and will benefit the people.
