PRO8 DESTROYS CONFISCATED FIRECRACKERS

Camp Ruperto K Kangleon, Palo, Leyte - A few days after the Yuletide Season festivities, the Police Regional Office 8 personnel destroyed earlier today,Friday at PRO8 Grandstand some P37,000 worth of confiscated illegal firecrackers here in Eastern Visayas.

This Police Regional Headquarters decided to soak these large heap of confiscated banned pyrotechnic materials, mostly Piccolo firecrackers with water.

PSSUPT ELIZAR PATANO EGLOSO, Chief Regional Police Community Relations Division supervised the disposal of more than a thousand pieces of Piccolo seized by operatives in the run-up to the New Year revelry from vendors for the covered period December 16, 2011 – January 1, 2012.

Among the destroyed firecrackers were powerful ones like “Pla-pla,” “Goodbye Philippines,” and “bawang.”

The items were confiscated in separate operations by the Police Regional Office 8 personnel in different areas in Eastern Visayas.

Said activity were witnessed by PSSUPT PEPITO M PACADA, Chief Regional Directorial Staff, Explosive Ordinance Detection Team 8 personnel (EODT8), other Police Commissioned Officers, Non-Commisioned Officers, Non-Uniformed Personnel and media personalities.

PCSUPT ARNOLD RAYALA REVILLA, Police Regional Director said that PRO8 has intensified operations against such dangerous firecrackers to ensure the community’s safety and lessen casualties during the New Year’s Eve revelry.
