PRO8 FIGHTS AGAINST VIOLATORS OF ARTICLE 201 OF THE REVISED PENAL CODE

Camp Ruperto K Kangleon, Palo, Leyte - PCSupt Arnold R Revilla bares that PRO8 operatives continue its relentless operation in going after software pirates. In fact, this region has intensified its drive particularly against computer/CD retail stores that offer to load and install counterfeit and pirated business software to customers.

With this he is reminding the consumers to be more cautious when they purchase computers/CDs and software to avoid being duped by stores that take advantage of their ignorance of the software licensing requirements, he added.

On March 10, 2011, joint elements of Southern Leyte Criminal Investigation and Detection Team led by PCInsp Ronald A Mendoza and Tacloban City CIDT conducted police operation on CIDG Flagship project on Oplan Mega Shopper at Maasin City, Southern Leyte. This resulted in the confiscation of forty (40) pieces of pirated bold VCDs at a stall owned by a certain Rey Teng, of legal age, married, a businessman and a resident of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

Said violator, together with the confiscated pornographic materials was brought to Southern Leyte CIDT, Sogod S/Leyte for proper disposition. Then a case for violation of 201 of the Revised Penal Code is now being readied for filing in court. //
