Camp Ruperto K Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – Director Chief Superintendent Arnold Rayala Revilla condemns the recent attack/ambush by alleged members of Communists Terrorists in the strongest manner. According to him their actions clearly indicate their insensitivity to human rights.
Further, he said that these NPA communist rebels killed not only the victims’ dreams but also the dreams of his immediate families and relatives.
Thus, he has instructed the elements of Eastern Samar to conduct hot pursuit operation against the fleeing suspects that transpired at Sitio Subok, Brgy. Tangbo, Arteche Eastern Samar. Then, he ordered them establish check points in possible exit routes of the withdrawing suspects and alerted all police stations to initiate precautionary measures and strengthen their defensive position.
Based on the Initial report received of this Office that at about 10:45 am of February 26, 2011, the convoy of Mayor Rolado Evardone of Arteche Eastern Samar together with his police escorts headed by the elements of 1 team of 3rd Maneuver Platoon, 1st Maneuver Company, Regional Public Safety Battalion 8 led by PINSP AL LIANZA TANTIADO, platoon leader and one (1) team from Arteche MPS were ambushed by undetermined number of heavily armed CTs led by Rodencio Deo @ Red Vice Commander, Rado Platoon, front 4, Northern Samar Party Committee at Sitio Subok, Brgy. Tangbo, Arteche Eastern Samar, the incident resulted in the Kill in Action of PINSP AL LIANZA TANTIADO, while PO1 Kenneth Tapalla, PO1 Sherwin Tajado, PO1 Elmer Quisado and a civilian motorist identified as Noe Operio were Wounded in Action. Three (3) long and short firearms with magazines were carted away by the communist terrorists. Mayor Rolando Evardone together with his civilian escorts immediately turned back away from crime scene and were reportedly unharmed. The fatalities were brought to Arteche District Hospital for medication and for subsequent evacuation by PAF Chopper to St. Paul’s Hospital, Tacloban City. Joint elements from 14th and 18th Infantry Battalion of 8th Infantry Division and Eastern Samar PPSC are now conducting pursuit operations against the CT’s.
Likewise, he said these alleged communist rebels disregarded the safety of civilians as they conducted the attack. It is an endless cycle of ignorance indicative of insensitivity to the human rights for the innocent victims.
