Mayor Romualdez happy with the TXTFire program

TACLOBAN CITY – The city chief executive said that he is happy with the presence of TXTFire program, a pet program of TXTFire Philippines Foundation Incorporated that is in partnership with the Tacloban Delta Volunteer Fire Rescue Incorporated.

Mayor Alfred Romualdez, who was present during the launching of the said program at the Rotary Building together with representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Information Agency, Provincial Government of Leyte, TXTFire Foundation and Tacloban Delta Fire Volunteer, stressed that program such as the TXTFire helps the local government units and the BFP in the monitoring of fire incidence in their respective locality thus helps the concerned agency to immediately take action in addressing fire problem.

TXTFire Philippines was developed by the TXTFire Philippines Foundation Incorporated, a non-profit organization.

It is the first fire alert and alarm and provides information for the location, time and status of the fire incidence through the help of the SMS or text messaging dispatcher where an operator will verify the veracity of the reports which will be dispatched immediately to the nearest fire stations once the reports is true.

The scheme is free of charge after registering the number of the cellular phone by typing Register Full Name and Address and send to 0918-6-888-888.

To report fire incidence, residents will just need to type FIRE TAC and send to 0918-6-888-888 for the operator to get information as to the place of occurrence of the fire incident.

Romualdez added that he is pleased with the support that the fire volunteer are providing to the city and to the BFP as far as fire control and prevention is concerned.

He also asked the members of the fire volunteers not just to help in controlling fire incidence, but also to report what are the problems they noticed in building or areas where the fire occurs.

“If you went inside the building where a fire occurs, I would also like you to check if there are fire extinguishers or if fire sprinklers works,” said Romualdez.

“You have to reports that to us,” he stressed, adding that he will take action to the reported problem personally.

However, Mark Aquino, who is the Tacloban Delta Fire Marshall, reacted to the call of the city mayor, saying that that duty of the fire volunteer was solely to help extinguish fire.

“We cannot do the inspection for it is the job of the BFP who is duly authorized by the government,” Aquino said. (ROEL AMAZONA)
