Camp Ruperto K Kangleon, Palo, Leyte - PCSupt Arnold R Revilla directed his men in collaboration with concerned government agencies such as the Department of Labor and Employment 8, National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police to combat the criminal practice which is the human trafficking, if there are any in Eastern Visayas. He said that we should help each other and share information in order to curb illegal recruitment and human trafficking here in Region 8.
Moreover he stressed that the concerned agencies must step up efforts to catch and convict illegal recruiters, to show that it is serious in curbing illegal recruitment and human trafficking. “We need to convict some to teach them a lesson and for them to realize that we are serious about this.”
At about 11:10 PM of March 10, 2011, operatives from N/Leyte Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (NLCIDT) led by PSI Patrick Freddie G Vaño conducted police operations and raided THE BAYVIEW INN & KTV Bar for violation of Republic Act Number 9208 otherwise known as “The Anti Trafficking in Persons of 2003”, which resulted to the arrest of the following suspects, to wit: one (1) Charo T Fernandez alias Yangyang, 42 yrs old, married, floor manager of BAYVIEW INN & KTV Bar and a resident of Soong, Curva, Ormoc City; two (2) Ira C Sampan alias Mir, 22 yrs old, single, cashier of BAYVIEW INN & KTV Bar and a resident of Algria, Ormoc City; and three (3) Ariane C Castillo alias Chekay, 29 yrs old, cashier of BAYVIEW INN & KTV Bar and a resident of Valenzuela City; Jinky P Paragatos alias Jing, 19 yrs old, single, GRO of BAYVIEW Inn & KTV and a resident of Sagkahan, Tacloban City. The arrested suspects and the rescued victim were brought to 8RCIDU Office for booking, documentation and for further investigation.
A criminal charge for violation of Republic Act Number 9208 “The Anti Trafficking in Persons of 2003” was filed before the office of City Prosecutors, Ormoc City in an inquest proceedings docketed under NPS NR: VIII-04-INQ-11C-00032 to include the operator/manager of said establishment named Robert G Del Rosario (at large).//
