Instead of criticizing Pamana award, opposition members should be happy with it – Councilor Romualdez

TACLOBAN CITY – Instead of criticizing the city from the award that the Department of Interior and Local Government had given them, just his month, the Pamana ng Lahi Award, members of the opposition should be happy to what the city government had received.

Thus said Councilor Cristina Romualdez, when asked to comment over criticisms from the opposition councilors .

“The award was not given to a single person, it was not given to my husband alone but to the entire city government, therefore we should be happy with it,” Romualdez stressed.

She added that with this criticism they are receiving from the other camp, they can do nothing but pray that each one of them could be enlightened.

She also added that her husband has been doing all he can to address the problem of the city, which, in turn, is rewarded with awards the city government is receiving from various organizations.

This statement of Romualdez was supported by Councilor Jerry Yaokasin, who said that the group or organization that gives the award sshould be respected with their decision.

“It was a government institution and there are certain criteria’s that should be met before given with the award, so I don’t think the city government should be criticized about it but rather we should be happy on what the city government had received,” Yaokasin said.

Although he had an affirmative opinion that favor the city government, Yaokasin stressed that there are still things that needs to be fixed and done by the city government chief executive to ensure that his administration really deserve the award.

“There are observations like in the Commission on Audit report and criticism over his administration that is not transparent and problem on fiscal management of the city.  I hope that he address these problems so that people won’t give doubt over the award,” he added.
