8ID Joins the Nation in Celebrating the National Women’s Month

CAMP GENERAL VICENTE LUKBAN, CATBALOGAN CITY – The 8th Infantry (Stormtroopers) Division joined the nation in celebrating the National Women’s Month themed “We Make Change Work for Women”.
Brig. Gen. Cesar M. Idio, 8ID Assistant Division Commander personally conveyed the remarks of Lieut. Gen. Glorioso V. Miranda, Commanding General, Philippine Army to the Stormtroopers recognizing the role of women in uniform who have made contributions in the fulfilment of the Army mission.
This celebration aims to inform and engage women as stakeholders of government programs and services,create and facilitate platforms to discuss good practices, gaps, challenges, and commitments in pursuing gender and development (GAD) and inspire and empower women and girls to be agents of change.
In his message, Lieut. Gen. Miranda encouraged the female soldiers to actively participate in the government programs, policy-makings and trainings.  Through gender mainstreaming, the Philippine Army narrowed down the existing gender gaps or disparity between the sexes in the organization thus expanding the women’s potentials and continues to achieve their highest goals.
“Let us reaffirm our commitment of malasakit at pagbabago because through working together we can implement real change with our combined efforts and extensive advocacy in promoting gender equality,”Miranda added. (DPAO-8)
