PNP continues to monitors PAGs

TACLOBAN CITY – The provincial office of the Philippine National Police in Samar said that they ensure that the forthcoming elections will be peaceful and no bloodshed will be reported during the balloting.

Samar is again included in the list concern areas considered as “hot spots” by the Philippine National Police and the Commission on Elections based on the statement made by Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas.

This resulted for the PNP in the region to implement measures to ensure that next year elections would become more peaceful, a marching order from the PNP Regional Director Chief Superintendent Elmer Soria.

Under the extensive watch of PNP is the monitoring of loose firearms circulating in the entire province and the monitoring of the two existing private armed groups operating in the said province purportedly maintained by politicians.

Superintendent Joseph Pensotes, in an interview said that as of press time, they had not monitored any moves from the two identified PAGs.

The police official added in the two congressional districts of Samar province it is only in the first district which they monitored with PAGs operation.

“Second district in more peaceful than the first district and since I had assumed in this position we had not monitored any private armed groups in the area of second district,” Pensotes stressed.

Although there are armed groups under the surveillance right now of PNP to include local government officials in the first district, Pensotes stressed that situation in Samar is still consider peaceful unlike in previous elections.

He added that the recent conduct of operations against PAGs resulted for the arrest of some of its members had contributed to the current peaceful situation.

“So far we had not monitored any moves of these groups and any politicians who are asking for their service,” he added.
