Opposition to continue criticizing city gov’t if there are wrongdoings

TACLOBAN CITY – The opposition group in this city vows to continue criticizing the city government if they see that there are anomalies or irregularities committed by officials under the executive branch.

Councilor Neil Glova commit this to the public when asked to comment over the recent plea of Mayor Alfred Romualdez’ spokesperson.

In an interview in at a local radio station, Bernardita “Bering” Valenzuela asked for a month’s ceasefire on attacks against the City Hall said that attacks maybe done on January after the Christmas season.
But this call of Valenzuela is impossible to be made, according to Glova.

“What we are doing is part of our job and it is our job being in the opposition to criticize the administration if we see something wrong in what they are doing,” the opposition councilor said.

Glova also noted that all their accusations and criticism are backed with proof s which makes them eager to expose all wrongdoing of the present administration.

“We all want to celebrate Christmas peacefully, but this thing that is happening between us in the opposition and the administration is part of the services that we are rendering to the public,” Glova explained.

“Public service doesn’t stop during Christmas season. We will continue criticizing the city government for as long as there are anomalies,” he promised.

“Our mouth will stop on talking and exposing if we see that they had finally do their job correctly,” he added.
Glova together with Vice Mayor Arvin Antoni and Councilor Jerry Uy are Romualdez’s most vocal critics making allegations ranging from illegal transactions to buying awards like the recent Gawad Pamana ng Lahi bestowed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government. The City Hall called their allegations as baseless and does not reflect their being officials of Tacloban.
